FAQ’S

  • Permanent Makeup is a cosmetic tattoo procedure where pigments are applied into the skin to mimic traditional makeup!

This procedure is popular for those looking to save time on daily makeup routines, individuals with makeup allergies, or people with physical challenges that make makeup application difficult. Permanent makeup can also be used for medical purposes, such as restoring the appearance of eyebrows.

  • The longevity of Permanent Makeup depends on several factors, including the technique used, the client’s skin type (normal, dry, combination, or oily), lifestyle (such as swimming, tanning, smoking, or an active routine), skincare habits (like using retinols, chemical peels, or exfoliating treatments), and how your age (youthful or mature) relates to how your body metabolizes the pigment (quick or slow). Generally, dry skin holds onto pigment better than oily skin and mature clients can go longer between touch ups than more youthful clients. Permanent Makeup typically lasts between 1 to 3 years before a touch-up is needed for brows and 2 to 4 years for lip blushing.

  • Most people experience minimal discomfort during the first 5-15 minutes of a brow, depending on which technique is used. Topical numbing is applied during the second pass to make the process as comfortable as possible. Pain tolerance varies, so what might be uncomfortable for some is quite manageable for others. Many clients find the process relaxing, some even fall asleep during the procedure. For lip procedures, you're numbed from the beginning, with secondary numbing applied to ensure comfort throughout.

  • Physical healing for brows typically takes about 10 days, during which the treated area may feel sensitive, inflamed, or slightly red. For lips, healing is generally 7 days, though you might experience excessive flakiness and dryness. Complete healing of the skin and settling of the pigment can take 4-6 weeks for brows and 6-8 weeks for lips. It's essential to follow aftercare instructions during this period.

  • A permanent makeup procedure can take up to about 2.5 hours. This includes time for the consultation, numbing, designing the shape, and performing the actual procedure. The duration can vary depending on the specific technique and individual client needs.

  • Your 6-week touch-up will be scheduled on the day of your initial appointment.

For the best results, two sessions are recommended.

If you need an additional touch-up, we offer two options based on how long it has been since your initial session. These options also apply if you're booking an additional touch-up on a 1–3 year touch-up appointment.

$75-$100 for a touch-up within the first 6 months after your initial appointment or an additional touch up on a 1-3 year touch-up.

$150 for a touch-up between 6 and 12 months after your initial appointment or an additional touch up on a 1-3 year touch-up.

After 12 months, it is considered a 1–3 year touch-up. Most clients do not require a touch-up before 12 months, but if needed, the pricing listed above will apply.

Keep in mind that brows typically last 1 to 3 years, depending on skin type, age, and lifestyle, before needing a touch-up. Lips generally last 2 to 4 years after the second session before requiring a touch-up.

  • Please review the following guidelines when booking your appointment and consider any upcoming vacations, events, facial treatments, or activities that might interfere with your aftercare routine to avoid unwanted healing results.

    Brow Aftercare:

    Day 1:
Wash brows gently 4 times a day with water.
Apply aftercare balm immediately after every wash.
For the last wash of the night, use baby shampoo.

    Days 2 & 3:
Wash brows gently 3 times a day with water (no balm).
Last wash of the night, wash with baby shampoo.

    Days 4-10:
Wash brows gently 2 times a day with water.
Apply aftercare balm immediately after every wash.
Last wash of the night, wash with baby shampoo.

Things to avoid for 4 days: excess sweating, sweat contains salt, which removes permanent makeup. To ensure the best results, avoid sweating during the aftercare phase. This includes a hot sauna and a hot bath. If you’re an excess sweater, your permanent makeup may fade faster, resulting in the need for touch-ups sooner.

Things to avoid for 10 days: Make up on top of the brows, swimmingβ€”this includes any body of water like a jacuzzi, pool, any lakes, rivers, or oceans. The brows are an open wound, we want to avoid the risk of infection. Please avoid picking, peeling or scratching the micro-pigmented area, touching the eye brow except for when washing & applying after care balm.

Things to avoid for the next 12 weeks: Botox, fillers, laser treatments, resurfacing treatments on or around the brows for 12 weeks, Retin-A, Glycolic Acid, anti-aging creams, exfoliating products, chemical treatments/peels directly on the forehead, and tanning. This includes sun and salon tanning. Tanning during the healing process can affect the pigment's retention and color. If you plan to be outdoors within 10 days of your appointment, wear a hat. After 10 days, apply SPF over your brows if you'll be in the sun.

    Lip Blush Aftercare

    Day 1:
Before bed, gently wash your lips with baby shampoo and apply balm to keep them moisturized.

    Days 2-7:
Apply balm several times a day to keep your lips hydrated. Wash with baby shampoo before bed.

After the procedure, your lips may feel dry, chapped, tight, and tender. They might also appear swollen and bright in color for up to 36 hours.

    Days 4-7:
During this time, your lips will begin to flake, and the color may lighten by up to 50%. Avoid picking or peeling to allow the skin to shed naturally, which helps preserve the pigment and prevent scarring. Continue using balm to maintain moisture.

Please refrain from kissing or applying friction to the treatment area for up to 7 days.

    Week 2:
Once the peeling has completed, the color may appear lighter, but feel free to resume your normal routines. Healing will continue for up to 8 weeks, and you will notice more color surface as time goes on.

    Weeks 6-8:
Your lips should be fully healed, and the color will have returned.

Things to avoid for 4 days:

    β€’Heavy sweating
    β€’Excessive alcohol consumption
β€’Oily, spicy, salty, or heavily seasoned foods

When drinking, use a straw. After meals, gently rinse your lips with water, pat dry, and reapply balm.

Things to avoid for 7 days: Swimming, hot saunas, jacuzzis, dirt and debris

Things to avoid for 8 weeks: Sun tanning or salon tanning, as UV exposure can alter color and cause premature fading, any laser treatments, chemical peels, or products containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area.

Things to avoid for the next 12 weeks: Botox, fillers, laser treatments, or resurfacing treatments on or around the lips. The more intense the treatment, the longer you'll need to wait after your Permanent Makeup treatment.

  • Microblading. This technique involves using a manual handheld tool to create hair-like strokes to mimic your natural eyebrow hairs, following the natural pattern of your hair. This technique offers a very realistic, naturalistic style, done by creating hair like strokes and then filling the strokes with pigment.

Microblading is ideal for those with normal to dry skin. If you have sensitive or oily skin, this technique may not be the most suitable option for you.

Nano Brow, similar to Microblading, involves using a micro-pigment machine with a fine needle to deposit pigment into the skin, creating delicate, hair-like strokes that mimic the natural look of eyebrow hairs, a very realistic and naturalistic style. The biggest difference between Nano Brow and Microblading is that this style is less invasive on the skin and lasts longer than traditional Microblading. Some even find it to be more comfortable! This technique is suitable for most skin types, especially dry, normal, or T-zone oily skin. It is not recommended for extremely sensitive. The Powder/Ombre Brow may be a more suitable option in this case.

Powder Brow is a technique that uses a micro-pigmentation machine to create a soft-shaded eyebrow look by creating tiny micro dots. These dots make up the brow by filling in sparse areas, giving your brows a look similar to make up. It can be as soft as a brow pencil or as bold as a makeup look. It is also known as Ombre brows. Ombre Brows are a Powder Brow style that features a gradual transition of color from light (at the front or top of the brow), to dark (at the tail or bottom of the brow). This technique creates a soft-pixelated effect. Suitable for all skin types. This technique is the most gentle on the skin, resulting in less discomfort. If that’s a concern for you, this will likely be the best option.

Combination Brow is a style that combines both the hair stroke look (Microblading or Nano), at the fronts of the brow, and Powder Brow to fill in and define through the rest of the brow. The most versatile style and the best of both worlds, all-in-one, to create your dream brow! This technique is best suited for dry, normal, or T-zone oily skin.

  • Lip blushing is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing technique that enhances the natural color and shape of your lips. It involves depositing pigment into the lips to give them a fuller, more defined look while maintaining a soft and natural appearance. The result is similar to a tinted lip balm effect, providing a subtle wash of color that can last for several years. This technique can also help even out the lip tone and create the illusion of more symmetrical lips.

Lip blushing typically lasts between 2 to 4 years, depending on factors like your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you care for your lips. Regular touch-ups can help maintain the color and shape over time.

  • Please schedule a consultation to determine if we can work over your existing work. If you have existing permanent makeup, it must be very light for the new pigment to show clearly over it. If your previous pigment has faded out of the skin more than 20-30% or has lightened up and the previous shape fits within the new design, we can likely proceed. However, if the work is too dark or the shape is not suitable, it may be better to consider laser removal first before moving forward with a Permanent Makeup procedure. Any work done by another artist will be treated as a new client appointment at full price. However, if you are a returning client from Pinpoint Permanent Cosmetics between 2019-2023 but had the work done by a different artist there, touch-up pricing will still be honored.

Must not have any skin conditions or irritations on or near the eyebrows. This includes eczema, psoriasis, rashes, or contact dermatitis.

Not having a tendency for excessive bleeding.
Not have any history of keloids or scarring.
Not experience epilepsy or seizures (unless you have a doctor’s note).

Not be using Accutane for a minimum of 1 year.

Not have had Botox or Filler within 2-4 weeks.

However, a consultation is not required. If you have any questions, feel free to message meβ€”I always make time during the initial appointment to address your needs!
